Founder & CEO of Public Good Pharma which is a social enterprise launched by my charity Crowd Funded Cures. We are building a scalable platform to develop low-cost or open source medical interventions (including psychedelic and plant medicine) without financial risk by using self-funding trials and outcome-based contracts to leverage the future cost savings of health-insurers.
In-house Counsel and Patent & Trade Mark Attorney (NZ/AU) with 20+ years experience working with technology companies in the UK, EU, US, AU and NZ. I am admitted as a barrister and solicitor in NZ and lawyer in Australia. I specialise in IP, commercial law, and data protection, with an interest in biotech, AI, blockchain & neuroscience.
I graduated from the University of Canterbury (Christchurch, NZ) with a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Science (Molecular Biology / Microbiology) and postgraduate biology degree (Animal Physiology) in 2004. I returned to the University of Canterbury to complete Master of Laws thesis (First Class Hons) in 2014, which proposed alternatives outside the patent system to address the market failure to develop unmonopolisable and unpatentable therapies, namely, medical prizes and regulatory exclusivity respectively (see http://hdl.handle.net/10092/9826).
I was a speaker at over 10 conferences in web3 and psychedelics, including Wonderland Miami in 2022 (https://finance.yahoo.com/news/crowd-funded-cures-presenting-wonderland-151800829.html) and over 10 podcasts regarding the idea of self-funding clinical trials to develop low-cost / open-source medicines (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3ZCzHREiqc).
Using Financial Innovation to Develop Open Source Psychedelic Medicine

I would present and explain the financially-innovative idea of funding affordable and open source psychedelic medicine (e.g. ketamine or psilocybin for depression) using self-funding interventional pharmacoeconomic trials and pay-for-success contracts that leverage web3 and the cost-savings of health insurers to fund the trials themselves.
Persons interested in helping cure mental health issues with psychedelic medicine. Any age range, experience.
